Acres Insurance Brokers was founded with a single aim: to provide farmers, private estates, and commercial enterprises in the rural sector with the independent insurance advice and customer service they deserve.

Established in 2018 by Nigel Wellings, who previously founded and led Farmers and Mercantile Insurance for 22 years, Acres draws on decades of experience in agricultural and rural insurance. Nigel’s co-directors, Georgie Spencer and Rollo Parsons, bring more than 50 years of combined experience across agricultural, rural and commercial insurance markets, giving clients access to a wealth of industry knowledge and insight.

All our directors share a passion for farming and the countryside, with direct farming connections and strong commercial interests. They established Acres around a simple principle: providing personal service, independent advice and putting clients at the heart of everything they do.

We continually develop our agricultural and rural services, while expanding support for commercial enterprises connected to the countryside. In 2025, we launched a dedicated private client division, strengthening our ability to provide tailored insurance advice and support for high-net-worth individuals.

At Acres, we pride ourselves on understanding the fine print in insurance policies – often complex and confusing – and explaining it clearly for our clients. Knowing what a policy does and does not cover is just as important as understanding the level of protection it may provide.
